The Friends of West Park, Long Eaton, successfully applied for a grant of
£26,000 from the Lottery fund & there are now 10 outdoor exercise machines installed in the park.
The outdoor gym machines were manufactured in the UK by Wicksteed & were installed
by West Park ground staff. The plinth of each machine bears a plate showing a
suggested exercise routine. If you have an injury or physical limitation please
consider which machines to avoid. When the circular path is improved the intention
is to mark out the distances between the outdoor gym machines for runners and joggers.
"The equipment has been funded through Community Spaces which is an open grants programme managed by Groundwork UK on behalf of a national consortium of environmental organisations and funded through the Big Lottery Fund. Groundwork UK is an Award Partner to the Big Lottery Fund's Changing Spaces initiative".
